Ran

"Ran" (1985) is an adaptation of Shakespeare's "King Lear," transporting the story from medieval England to feudal Japan. Kurosawa's interpretation of the play adds a distinctly Japanese flair, with nods to Noh theatre and samurai culture. Kurosawa's use of colour and composition is breathtaking.
