Midori’s “Aratamemashite, Hajimemashite, Midori Desu” (2008) is jazz, punk, noise and math rock thrown into a blender. Active from 2003 to 2010, the band tore through Japan’s underground scene with their anything goes approach. Mariko Gotō’s unhinged vocals collide with frantic musicianship and total disregard for convention.
